Youth Band is coming back!
Youth Band re-launching in Royston for 2026
-min.jpg)
For eight years, the Youth Band gave Glasgow’s young people a place to belong. A chance to make music. A reason to feel proud and alive.
Then… it fell silent.
We didn’t stop because demand faded. We lost funding.
Since summer 2024 there have been no rehearsals, no performances, and no space for the young people who depended on this creative community.
We’re launching a relaunch project that will culminate in a big public performance during the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Your donation will cover tuition, space hire, transport, costumes and instruments. This ensures the project remains free, inclusive and full of joy.
Street band music for 50 young people (aged 11 to 25)
Instruments, tuition and costumes provided free
Weekly rehearsals in a welcoming, accessible space
Mentoring from street band professionals
Performance opportunities from street busks to international festivals
Access to the global street band community
Leadership, training and employment pathways
88% of past members report feeling more connected to peers and community
96% report improved wellbeing and confidence
We believe every young person deserves joyful, high-quality music opportunities.
Not just in school. Not just for those who can pay.
This isn’t just music. It’s community. Confidence. Identity.
Donate today and help us bring this band back to the streets.
Even if larger funders don’t support us, the people can.
Every pound goes straight into giving young people music, confidence, connection and pride.
If further funding follows, your support becomes a multiplier. It will extend our reach and deepen the impact.
While we’re not a climate organisation, we are deeply committed to sustainability, justice and activism.
Our young people have marched in global climate actions, welcomed Greta Thunberg to Glasgow, reused costumes, sourced pre-loved instruments and built strong links with local climate networks.
Your support backs a project where joyful expression meets community and climate-aware values.
“When I joined the youth band I was super anxious and struggled socially. Thanks to the nurturing environment at SYB I was able to come out of my shell and make friends I’m still excited to hang out with 10 years later.” – Cian
“It’s not just about the music. It helps build connections and lets young people thrive.” – Parent
